My name is Patch and I take my boy for walks. He is eight and he needs lots of exercise. I make him run round and round the block on the lead. He puffs a lot. Yesterday we went through the field where the big, white, fluffy monsters live. I was brave. I let my boy drag me on my back right across the field. The monsters followed closely and said, “Baa,” showing how scared they were of me. When you go for a walk you have to sniff everything or you're a cissy. Yesterday I scored a bonus-point for sniffing an old lady's shoes, but the smack on the nose hurt. You have to sniff. My job is being fed and sleeping. There are rules about being fed. You have to look hungry all the time, with big, brown eyes. Also you have to hold your stomach in and look thin. When you are fed you have to eat as fast as possible to show how hungry you are. This is all very tiring so you sleep a lot. My boy has just sat down with his pen and books. That must mean he needs a walk.Copyright © 1991 LS
